My target audience is primarily 16-25 year olds. In order to attract and emotionally engage this audience I asked a range of my peers what they would prefer to see in a love song music video.
Do you prefer narrative music videos or more montage style videos with performance?
Most responded saying narrative videos are more captivating and interesting to watch.
- Due to this I have decided to have a video with more of a narrative, however, to include more conventions of a music video I aim to incorporate some performance elements.
What age range do you like to see in music videos?
Most of my peers didn't have a specific age preference, but preferred younger representations as it was more relatable.
-Therefore, I plan on using people aged around 20 as this is in the middle of the target audience so hopefully, they will all feel represented.
After beginning filming for my video, I showed clips and mock ups to my peers in order to get their opinion so far:
- Enjoyed the filter showing the past videos as it gave the video a more authentic and trendy feel.
- Use more short clips as the long ones don't seem to match the song as well.
-Adding the performance clips makes the video seem more like a real music video.
